I first used this border last year on a special baby blanket for a neighbor friend. It is now my favorite go-to border for any C2C. My favorite part is that it doesn’t require any sc stitches around the edge! Woo! (I can’t possibly be the only one that hates having to do that, right?)
What You Need:
A completed C2C (corner to corner) project that had an even number of c2c blocks – both length and width.
Yarn: I use white, but you can use any corresponding color in the same type of yarn used for your C2C project.
Hook: Use the same hook you used to make your C2C
Tapestry Needle
What You Need to Know:
Slip Stitch (slst)
Chain (ch)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet (dc)
How To Do It: (ch 2 always counts as first dc)
Row 1 – Attach your yarn in any corner of your C2C. In the corner space – ch2, 2dc, ch 2, 3dc.
ch 1, 3dc in c2c block that has a ch 3 space at the top (this will be the only type of block you crochet into on this round).
ch 1, *3dc in next block with ch 3 at top (it will be every other block from here on out), ch1,* *continue across until you reach the next corner and repeat corner instructions (3dc, ch 2, 3dc in corner).
Continue to ch1, 3dc, ch 1 across all sides, and (3dc, ch 2, 3dc) in each corner. Once you reach your starting corner, slst into top of ch 2, slst into next dc, slst into next dc, slst into ch space.
Row 2 – Repeat exactly as above except do 3dc’s into chain spaces. Corners are the same as above, ending slst’s are the same as above.
Row 3 – Repeat row 2
Row 4 – (In corner stitch – ch 2, 5dc), sc into middle dc st from previous row, *4dc in ch space, sc into middle dc from previous row* *Repeat around with 6dc in each corner stitch*, after your final sc, slst into top of ch 2 from first corner.
That’s it! Now you have a beautiful C2C border!
Go fancy up those C2C projects now and maybe make a cute little hat to match!

For the border I just used white caron simply soft. For the the colorful blanket and hat part I used Kai yarn by Loops and Threads. I can’t remember the name of the color way though! It’s only available at Michaels.

The beanie is a simple DC beanie with a handmade pompom. I don’t have a pattern written for one, personally, but you can a find a written pattern or video by googling for “simple crochet DC beanie”.

I didn’t follow a specific pattern, I just used a technique learned from YouTube. It should be the most common C2C technique. (ch 6 to start, dc in 3rd, 2nd, and 1st ch space….)

Not real sure what to do on Row 1 where there’s no chain 3 space. I’m just doing every other block but it’s starting to ripple like there’s two many blocks.

You should skip the blocks that do not have the ch3 space on the outside. 3dc in each of the blocks with the ch3 st on the outside, with a ch1 between each group of 3dc. If you’re doing that, and it’s still rippling, I’m not sure why. If you’d like to email a picture to me, maybe I can try to see what’s going on! snikkimack@gmail.com

No, this border only works if it’s an even number! Maybe you can double up or skip a space once on each side so that it’s symmetrical?? Make it look intentional! 🙂 Good luck! Let me know if you figure something out!!
