The Ziggy Hat Crochet Pattern

Hello again, lovely people!  I have been on a crazy crochet lady rampage lately.  Getting ready for my first craft fair has me making new things each day, and I just love sharing these new patterns with you all!  So, let’s get to The Ziggy Hat!

  • If you’d like to purchase the PDF for this pattern, it is available HERE in my Etsy shop!  I sell the PDF as a way of making just a tiny bit of money while I am a stay at home mom.  The PDF is downloadable, printable, and a lot less wordy and picture-y than my blog post!

The Ziggy Hat

What You’ll Need:

Yarn – two different colors of worsted weight medium (4) yarn.  I used Studio Classic.
Hook – I used a J, but I have extremely tight tension.  Most people will probably need an H.  There are measurements listed below for an adult beanie.
Tapestry Needle

Stitches You’ll Need to Know:

Chain (ch)
Single Crochet (sc)
Double Crochet dc)
Slip Stitch (slst)

Gauge:

Four rows of dc = 2.25”.  Roughly, this hat breaks down into 4” of top solid color, 2” of mixed sc rows, and 2” of bottom solid color. There is a bit of wiggle room. Some of my hats were 8” from top to bottom exactly, others were 8.25-8.5.  Honestly depends on the thickness of the yarn you are using. (I used the same brand in each hat, but even within the same brand, some colors are thicker than others.)

This gets a little bit bell shaped due to the tension difference between my sc and dc stitches, but the finale two rows fix it right up!

Row 22 – ch 1, sc in each st around, slst to ch 1 space
